The Phuket Boardriders Club is organizing a Thailand Surf Series this year in Phuket.

Chanin Aiyarak or Joob, the Contest CEO of Phuket Boardriders Club, informed Andaman News that the inaugural Thailand Surf Series aims to incorporate the three main surfing contests held by the Phuket Boardriders Club each monsoon season into a series of connected events.

Being governed by the rules of the International Surfing Association, the Thailand Surf Series will become part of the Asian Surfing Championship (ASC) providing a ranking system and offering a platform for Thai surfers to compete with other Asian surfers in events around the region. The series will be sponsored by both government and local business.

The Phuket Boardriders Club is a non-profit organization formed in 2002 to strengthen local surfing talent and create camaraderie and friendships between local and visiting surfers alike. The Management of the club consists of Thai office bearers and local expatriate volunteers.

Over the past 7 surf seasons, the Boardriders have held numerous surf contests in Phuket. They plan the series of contests on 12-14 June at Kalim Beach, 14-16 August at Kamala Beach, and 4-6 September 2009 at Kata Beach, Phuket.
